shale gas is mined from shale in natural gas, composition dominated by methane, is an important Unconventional gas  resources. According to the forecast, the world's shale gas resource of 456 trillion cubic meters, mainly in North America, Central Asia, West Asia North Africa, South America and Eastern Europe and other regions.
BP in its latest Energy Outlook, said that by 2030, natural gas will become the world's largest primary energy. April 2011, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) released the "World Shale Gas Resources Preliminary Assessment Report" that the world's technically recoverable shale gas resources totaled 187.6 trillion cubic meters. Reports show that the world is rich in resources of shale gas, technically recoverable resources of the top 10 countries are China, the United States, Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Canada, Libya, Algeria, Brazil and Poland. Technically recoverable resources in these countries of the world 81.5% of the total.
?World shale gas resources on research and exploration and development first began in the United States. Rely on the development of mature production technology and perfect pipe network facilities in the past five years, the United States ushered in the " shale gas  revolution", shale gas production increased more than 20-fold. Along with shale gas exploration and development technology breakthroughs, 2009, U.S. shale gas production to 624 billion cubic meters, for the first time over Russia became the world's largest producer of natural gas. This not only changed the U.S. natural gas consumption has long been dependent on imports of the situation, but also triggered a worldwide boom in shale gas exploration and development.
At present, except the United States, Canada, China, Australia, Germany, France, Sweden, Poland and other countries also began research and  unconventional gas  exploration and development, many countries have large oil and gas companies worldwide looking for shale gas, Shale gas tide is changing the traditional pattern of world gas market.
